Rieker

Who we are and what we do

Founded in the Black Forest region of Southern Germany in 1874, Rieker originally produced shoes for the affluent citizens of Northern Italy.
The company soon gained a reputation for quality and has built itself into a household name in Central Europe. The company has been family owned for 5 generations and its commitment to quality and style has ensured continuous growth for 30 years.
At the beginning of the 1970's new headquarters were set up in Switzerland and production moved away from Europe. Today Rieker employs approximately 20,000 people, especially in Morocco, Slovakia, Tunisia and Vietnam, where the company's own production facilities are located.
We provide Rieker shoes and accessories to around 9,000 independent retailers, mainly in Europe.
Rieker antistress footwear is unique. To maintain the integrity of its special constructions, together with the flexibility to respond quickly to fashion trends, virtually everything Rieker sells is made by Rieker.

The Product

A new measure of performance

Rieker shoes are not merely decorative, fashionable, products. Their functional features mean they offer much more than that. Every shoe incorporates our special construction and utilises lightweight and elastic components to achieve our special antistress features.
Those features are:

  • Minimum weight.
  • Maximum reflexibility (what we call the ´barefoot´ feeling).
  • A construction that devotes space to areas where the foot expands through the day.
  • Optimum shock absorption on varying surfaces.

Rieker shoes are different from athletic shoes because the design of athletic shoes is mostly for short-term, high performance. The performance of Rieker shoes is not only measured by how fast you run or how high you jump but how good you feel in everyday life.

Code of Conduct

Social responsibility

Code of Conduct for social responsibility plays an important role for the shoe and leather industry producing and selling its products worldwide. This is reflected in a “Code of Conduct” which has been adopted by the Board of Management of the shoe and leather industry, to which we at Rieker commit ourselves entirely.
Rieker is also a member of CADS – a cooperation of the German Shoe Institute – which concentrates on the subject of pollutants in shoes and is engaged in the avoidance of harmful substances. For further information please visit www.cads-shoes.com.
